Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact us directly. You may report any suspicious communication received to the Federal Trade Commission.

Becoming a Sponsor of Continuing Education for Veterinary Technician

Introduction

The requirements to become an approved sponsor are found in Section 62.8(i)(2)(3) of the Regulations of the Commissioner. Organizations or other entities and individuals who seek approval as sponsors should complete the Application for Approval as a Continuing Education Sponsor for Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians.

All sponsors of continuing education for veterinary professionals must pay a $900 fee at the time that they submit the application for approval. Applications that are not accompanied by the fee will not be considered.

Yes. All entities or individuals seeking approval as sponsors must pay the $900 fee. The “deemed approved” status refers to the organizational structure and substantive content of sponsored continuing education activities. That is they are deemed to provide learning activities and to have an administrative structure, resources and processes that satisfy all of the requirements of the Department for becoming an approved sponsor.

No. One of the requirements for becoming an approved sponsor is that an entity or individual demonstrate that they will offer learning activities that are of acceptable content and that they have qualified instructors to present such activities. In the absence of any proposed learning activities, the Department is not in a position to determine the substantive quality of the anticipated offerings.
