The New York State Education Department (“SED”) Office of the Professions (“OP”) is alerting everyone to a vishing scam that has been brought to our attention. Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact us directly. You may report any suspicious communication received to the Federal Trade Commission.

Such updates include changes to your: address, name, date of birth, email address, citizenship/immigration status, and social security number as well as notifying the Office of the Professions about a deceased applicant or licensee.

We cannot provide the status of a licensure application by phone. After you have submitted all your documentation, please allow 6 weeks before submitting a Contact Us Form to request a status update. Contacting us earlier may extend processing times for applications. During busy times, this time frame may increase. We thank you for your patience and cooperation.

If you cannot find the PIN that was sent in your registration renewal notice, you can retrieve it with our PIN Retrieval System. You will need to provide your profession, license number, date of birth, and the last 4 digits of your social security number. If you do not have a social security number or need assistance from a representative, you can Chat to retrieve your PIN.
