The New York State Education Department (“SED”) Office of the Professions (“OP”) is alerting everyone to a vishing scam that has been brought to our attention. Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact us directly. You may report any suspicious communication received to the Federal Trade Commission.

New York State Application Filing Deadline for NYS Specific Land Surveying Examination:

The NYSED licensure application filing deadline for the March 12, 2027, NYS Specific Land Surveying Examination is December 1, 2026. We will make every effort to provide a review of those applications postmarked after this deadline. Because reviews for submissions after December 1, 2026, cannot be guaranteed for March 12, 2027, eligibility, you are strongly encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible.

Once you have received approval from the New York State Board for Engineering, Land Surveying and Geology to sit for the NYS Specific Land Surveying Examination, you must register through the Meazure Learning website to schedule and pay the fee for this examination. Instructions will be provided on the Meazure website for the registration and payment for this examination administration. Registration for the March 2027 examination administration opened on October 1, 2026. The deadline for this registration and payment process is January 4, 2027. There are no extensions. It is your responsibility to complete this registration and payment process by the deadline.
