Eligibility for the ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology (FG) and Principles and Practice of Geology (PG) examinations.

SED Application forms and instructions on how to apply for the ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology (FG) and/or Practice of Geology (PG) examinations are available on our website here.

The National Association of State Boards for Geology (ASBOG), with administration by Prometric, provides examinations during March and October each year. See the ASBOG examination schedule here. Your complete application needs to be received and approved by the Board Office at least ten (10) weeks before the published examination date. ASBOG now uses a Computer Based Testing (CBT) system at proctored testing sites.

You will be notified via email by the SED Board Office when your application is approved. This initial notification will be followed by scheduling approval email from ASBOG/Prometric for each exam you are admitted to. Registration, scheduling and payment for the examination and seat fee is coordinated through Prometric. When scheduling through Prometric, you will select your preferred examination testing center. Upon scheduling, you will be emailed a Candidate Admissions Letter from ASBOG/Prometric and are required to print and bring that letter with you on the day of your examination(s). Ensure that the ID you bring to the testing center exactly matches the name on your Candidate Admissions letter.

More information on the ASBOG CBT may be found at their website at https://www.asbog.org/cbt/index.html

Additional guidance related to registration and examination preparation can be found in the ASBOG Candidate Handbook at their website at https://asbog.org/candidates/candidates.html
