Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact us directly. You may report any suspicious communication received to the Federal Trade Commission.

Pharmacy Technician

Registered Pharmacy Technicians work under the direction and supervision of licensed pharmacists in certain settings. Tasks may include compounding, preparing, labeling, or assisting the pharmacist as directed in dispensing drugs to fill valid prescriptions or medication orders. Registered Pharmacy technicians may also perform related tasks, such as counting dosage units of drugs and placing them in appropriate containers and entering prescription data.

Salary range: $34,157 (entry)-$46,564 (experienced)

Practice is limited to hospitals, nursing homes, and diagnostic treatment centers, as well as pharmacies owned by those facilities (not including independent or chain pharmacies).

You must have received a high school diploma or its equivalent, as determined by the Department.

You must receive certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician certification program acceptable to the Department. Currently, the Department will accept certification from: Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
