- Perinatology (care related to high-risk pregnancies)
- Holistic Care (considers the whole person—physical, emotional, etc.)
- School Health
- Acute Care
- Oncology (treatment of cancer)
Nurse Practitioners may diagnose, treat, and prescribe for a patient’s condition that falls within their specialty area(s).

A masters or doctorate degree in a Department-registered nursing licensure program. Nurse Practitioner education programs in New York State must be approved by the New York State Education Department.
