Chiropractors treat symptoms and conditions as they relate to the spine, emphasizing the dependency of health on the correct functioning of the central nervous system. Chiropractors:
- use their hands, instruments, diagnostic imaging procedures, and lab tests to detect nerve interference
- adjust misaligned vertebrae (bones of the spinal column) and other bones to restore correct functioning
- may use electrical stimulation, acupressure, massage, ultrasound, deep heat, hot and cold packs, traction, and support devices
- provide guidance on lifestyle habits, posture, exercise, diet, and stress.
