A Histotechnologist prepare very thin slices of human tissue and analyze those samples through a microscope. Their findings help medical professionals to diagnose illness and disease. These professionals also maintain laboratory equipment, records, and quality assurance systems. A Histotechnician perform tests under appropriate supervision.

Histotechnologist- Bachelor's or higher degree in a Department-registered Histotechnology licensure program, or the equivalent
OR
Bachelor's or higher degree in natural sciences AND completion of a licensure qualifying program or accredited program.
OR
Bachelor's degree in natural sciences and two years of acceptable experience working in a clinical laboratory while licensed as a histotechnician.
Histotechnician- Associate’s or higher degree in a Department-registered certified histological technician licensure program, or the equivalent.

Histotechnologist- Histotechnologist exam (HTL).
