Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact us directly. You may report any suspicious communication received to the Federal Trade Commission.

The New York State Education Department is seeking a physician experienced in the evaluation of medical education programs to fill a vacancy as an Expert in Medical Education on the Advisory Committee on Long-Term Clinical Clerkships. The incumbent of this position shall serve in a consultative and advisory capacity on matters pertaining to the standards and process for approving international medical schools to place their students in long-term clinical clerkships in New York State and shall perform such specific tasks as are assigned by the Department or the Board of Regents. Duties of committee members include, but are not limited to, the following:
 

  • Review existing research on relevant issues, such as health workforce demands and trends, health workforce diversity and Board of Regents policy determinations;
  • Make recommendations regarding the standards to be applied in assessing applications by international medical schools for approval to place their students in long-term clinical clerkships in New York State;
  • Make recommendations regarding the process to be followed in assessing such applications for approval to place their students in long-term clinical clerkships;
  • Appoint an appropriate site review team from a roster of individuals approved by the committee; and
  • After consideration of the site review report, issue a report and recommendation, with minority opinions reflected, as to whether an application for placement of students in a long-term clinical clerkship should be approved.


Terms of Members:

The members of the Committee are appointed by the Chancellor of the Board of Regents, upon consultation with the Board. Members shall be appointed to serve a term of four years each, with no term limitations.
