The New York State Education Department (“SED”) Office of the Professions (“OP”) is alerting everyone to a vishing scam that has been brought to our attention. Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact us directly. You may report any suspicious communication received to the Federal Trade Commission.

Advisory Notice: NEW WORKFORCE SURVEY REQUIREMENT FOR REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSES (RNs)

Chapter 702 of the Laws of 2021 requires licensees in certain health professions to complete a Workforce Survey when they renew their professional license registration. Effective November 1, 2022, all RNs must complete a Workforce Survey when they apply to renew their RN registration. Any RN who renews their registration prior to November 1, 2022 will not be required to complete the Workforce Survey for that registration period.
