The New York State Education Department (“SED”) Office of the Professions (“OP”) is alerting everyone to a vishing scam that has been brought to our attention. Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact us directly. You may report any suspicious communication received to the Federal Trade Commission.

Effective January 1, 2022, the Part III (compounding) examination is no longer a requirement for pharmacist licensure in New York State. Applicants who have previously applied for, but did not obtain, pharmacist licensure in New York State due to the Part III examination must submit a Form 1A to the Department if they wish to have their application reviewed to determine whether they now meet the revised requirements for licensure in New York State.

  • If additional information is required, the Department will contact the applicant via the email address on the applicant's file.
  • Applicants can confirm the issuance of their license via the Department's Online Verification Searches Page which is updated daily.
  • Applicants must allow six weeks before submitting a Contact Us Form to check the status of their application.

The Department is updating its webpages to reflect the most current information around pharmacist licensure and endorsement. Applicants are encouraged to check the Department's Pharmacist licensure and endorsement FAQ page for additional information.

Regulatory amendments pertaining to the compounding continuing education requirements in the profession of pharmacy take effect on January 1, 2023. Website revisions and continuing education FAQs will be posted closer to the that date.
