The New York State Education Department (“SED”) Office of the Professions (“OP”) is alerting everyone to a vishing scam that has been brought to our attention. Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact us directly. You may report any suspicious communication received to the Federal Trade Commission.

Governor Hochul signed an Executive Order to ensure New Yorkers can receive the updated 2025-26 COVID-19 vaccine

On September 5th, Governor Hochul signed Executive Order 52: Declaring a Disaster in the State of New York Due to Federal Actions Related to Vaccine Access.  

Executive Order 52: 

  • Permits physicians and nurse practitioners to prescribe and order a patient-specific order or a non-patient specific regimen to a licensed pharmacist to administer immunizations to prevent COVID-19 to patients three years of age or older, in accordance with guidelines issues by the Commissioner of Health.
  • Authorizes pharmacists to administer the direct application of an immunizing agent to individuals three years of age or older whether by injection, ingestion, inhalation or any other means, pursuant to a patient specific order or non-patient specific regimen prescribed or ordered by a physician or certified nurse practitioner for COVID-19, in accordance with guidelines issued by the Commissioner of Health. 
  • Authorizes pharmacists to prescribe and order a patient-specific order for immunizations for prevent COVID-19 to patients three years of age or older in accordance with guidelines issued by the Commissioner of Health.
