On August 5, 2026, the Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) Act becomes effective in New York State. Public Health Law Article 28-F is intended to guide licensed professionals regarding eligibility determinations, mandatory mental health evaluations, informed decision-making, documentation, prescribing, protections, and professional obligations.
