The New York State Education Department (“SED”) Office of the Professions (“OP”) is alerting everyone to a vishing scam that has been brought to our attention. Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact us directly. You may report any suspicious communication received to the Federal Trade Commission.

Transferring Prescriptions for Controlled Substances

Effective April 14, 2026, following collaboration with the New York State Department of Health, the New York State Board of Regents further amended Part 63, through emergency action, to permit pharmacists, upon the express request and approval of a patient or the patient’s authorized representative, to transfer prescriptions for controlled substances subject to the requirements of Article 33 of the Public Health Law and Part 80 of Title 10 of the NYCRR.
