When providing consultation services, occupational therapy professionals should:

  • Honestly represent themselves
  • Recognize and disclose areas of expertise and stay informed and up-to-date on the latest news and developments in their expertise area and other areas, as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality throughout the consulting process
  • Recognize and disclose existing or potential conflict of interest prior to and/or during the consultation
  • Disclose the differences between fact and personal perspectives when providing consultation
  • Submit reports and recommendations in the agreed upon time frame
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
  • Be sure that, if a fee is charged, it is commensurate with the services provided
