When providing consultation services, occupational therapy professionals should:
- Honestly represent themselves
- Recognize and disclose areas of expertise and stay informed and up-to-date on the latest news and developments in their expertise area and other areas, as appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality throughout the consulting process
- Recognize and disclose existing or potential conflict of interest prior to and/or during the consultation
- Disclose the differences between fact and personal perspectives when providing consultation
- Submit reports and recommendations in the agreed upon time frame
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
- Be sure that, if a fee is charged, it is commensurate with the services provided
