Renewal/Statement Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I renew my Domestic Professional Corporation (P.C.) or Professional Design Corporation (D.P.C.)?

    Technically, a P.C. or D.P.C. (with the exception of Public Accountancy) are not renewed, however a triennial statement is routinely mailed to a P.C. or D.P.C. and must be returned to the Department in a timely manner. If you have not received your triennial statement, you can contact the Professional Corporation Unit at 518-474-3817 Ext. 400 or OPCORP@nysed.gov.

  2. How do I renew my Foreign Professional Corporation?

    Technically, a Foreign Professional Corporation (with the exception of Public Accountancy) is not renewed, however on or before July 1 of each year, every foreign professional service corporation must furnish a statement and fee to the Department.   3. How do I renew my Certificate of Authorization (COA) to provide Professional Engineering, Geology, and/or Land Surveying services?

    The New York State Education Department will automatically send a renewal application to the business entity every three years. If you have not received your renewal application, you can contact the Professional Corporation Unit at 518-474-3817 Ext. 400 or OPCORP@nysed.gov.

  4. How do I renew my Public Accountancy firm registration?

    Firms are required to renew their registration every 3 years on the CPA Form 6T – CPA Firm Triennial Registration. Firms are required to provide an annual firm update on CPA Form 6PR – Peer Review, Competency, and Annual Statements and, as applicable, a CPA Form 6C – Certification of Ownership and Attest Competency. The Department mails out triennial renewals and annual updates 60 days prior to the due date.   5. Can I renew my COA, firm registration, or submit my statements online? Can I make a payment online?

    No, all documents and fees must be mailed in. Payments must be made by check or money order.
