Calls for Board NominationsIndividuals dedicated to public protection, including licensed
professionals and members of the public, are needed from
throughout New York State to serve on the 30 State Professional
boards/committees. Board members assist the Board of Regents and
the State Education Department to help ensure the highest quality
of professional preparation and practice. Depending on the needs
of the particular board, members may advise on licensing
requirements, licensing examinations, and practice issues; they
may also reach out to communities and participate in disciplinary
proceedings. Professional board members must be New York
State-licensed professionals who are residents of the State.
Public members are required to be consumers of the service of the
board. A board member is appointed for a five-year term and may
be reappointed for a second term. ArchitectureThe Department is actively soliciting nominations for individuals interested in appointment as a professional or public member of the State Board for Architecture. Professional members must be licensed in Architecture. The Board is also conducting a search for a public member. Public members must be consumers of architectural services and may not hold interests in the organization, financing, or delivery of architectural services.
